La Conner & the San Juan Islands

Summer fun seems endless in the San Juan Islands: boating, whale watching, beaches, artists and tasty edibles! We’ll get plenty of opportunities to see the islands starting with a sunset dinner cruise through beautiful Deception Pass. Dine on cracked crab as we travel between Whidbey and Fidalgo islands exploring the mysterious coves and rugged cliffs. Spend a full day island hopping to Lopez and Orcas islands on a private cruise, stopping for lunch at the 5 star Rosario Resort. Our home base for three nights is the quaint harbor town of La Conner, right on the Puget Sound. We’ll have a day to explore the town’s nature walks, art galleries, museums, shops and delicious eateries. A perfect summer getaway, this trip includes three nights at the cozy and charming La Conner Country Inn, 8 meals and two boat cruises.

Mount St. Helens - 39 Years Later

When Mount St. Helens erupted in 1980 we were awe-struck at the powerful forces causing such destruction in our back yard. During the 39 years since, scientists and visitors have had the unique opportunity to observe nature’s healing powers. Our trip to the Mount St. Helens National Park will show us how much has recovered and how much of the landscape is forever changed. We’ll travel to the south side of the park along the Lewis River to the Ape Caves Lava Tube for a peek at the longest lava tube in North America, before settling in at the Red Lion in Kelso. A full day at the Mount St. Helens National Park will take us into the past through the cataclysmic eruption, and forward to a close up view of how the mountain looks today. That evening we will change pace and take a relaxing ride on the Chehalis-Centralia Railroad for an elegant dinner train experience through the Chehalis Valley. On our return journey we will stop at the Ridgefield Wildlife Refuge for a look at the on-going efforts to restore the area’s native species. This fascinating getaway includes 2 nights at the Red Lion Kelso, 5 meals (including the dinner train), and all park entrance fees.

Banff and the Canadian Rockies

The beauty and grandeur of the Canadian Rockies is like nowhere else in the world. Come with us and explore the snow-capped peaks, turquoise lakes, glaciers, and waterfalls of British Columbia and Alberta. We’ll follow the TransCanada Highway, Canada’s version of Route 66, first along the Fraser River, then around lakes and through canyons to sunny Kamloops. From Kamloops the highway takes us past Shuswap Lake, across the rugged peaks of Glacier National Park, and into Golden. We’ll take the Icefields Parkway through the heart of the Canadian Rockies, adventuring on to an ancient glacier, passing tumbling waterfalls and lakes of unbelievable blue as we travel on to Banff. In Banff take in the beauty of Canada’s oldest national park with a gondola ride as well as the stunning, picture-perfect blue of Lake Louise. Then we travel south through Kootenay National Park to picturesque Sandpoint, Idaho on Lake Pend Oreille. On our way back south we’ll stop in Coeur d’Alene for a lake cruise, before spending the night in Moses Lake, Washington. This amazing adventure full of spectacular scenery and wildlife galore includes 7 nights’ hotel accommodations, 14 meals, a gondola ride, glacier trek, lake cruise and so much more!
